We are a small team, we are individual and we value socialising. That's why we give our team a family feel and an environment in which we feel comfortable. We are known throughout the company for "the lunch break". Yes, we really do take a break together, chat and take time to talk about things that are neglected in meetings. We have a flat hierarchy. Everyone in our team is a professional in their field. We are out and about in our e-mobiles, which are available to us as IT pool vehicles.
We would like to apply to you as your new employer. As your new team, as your new colleagues. Let's fast-forward to the part of the job interview where the big and small differences matter. The order is random, as everyone's preferences are a little different.

What
we test systems, we moderate (e.g. BPMN/EPK), we are strong in the development, implementation and controlling of in-house logistics applications as well as communication and moderation.
What/with whom we are working on:
Smart apps and IT logistics solutions along the transport chain, directly with users (stevedoring, accounting, railway), ...
ON WHAT
with international customers, in direct contact with universities/research, digital transformation, port-specific process optimisation and software forge: Digitech, AGIOS, PASIS, Port of CAPTN Initiative Kiel and many more.
How we work:
This is something special for us and is something we all cherish ...
How
We are constantly looking for new perspectives, are highly creative and extremely personal, we work together, have short decision-making channels, report directly to the managing director, keyword: "New Work". We develop and test prototypes, 100% practice-orientated.
Where we work:
This is indeed a difference to the classic office workplaces, because we are active in the ...
where
creative workspace, have a view of the Kiel Fjord, in a city centre location and are still 20 minutes from the beach. We work indoors and outdoors, in a growing company that is a pioneer in environmental protection, in an international environment and have modern workplaces. Remote work possible, home office option.
Our field of activity is diverse, international, dynamic and of a highly professional dimension. We develop smart apps and specialised IT logistics solutions along the transport chain. We are in direct contact with universities and research institutes. Many of our projects are funded, set new standards and optimise port-specific processes. Here are a few examples:
5G D-Tech-Base
Our port is a testing ground for new 5G terminal communication and traffic control. We are building our own IT habitats and creating an IT ecosystem, a state-of-the-art multiplayer port transshipment centre.
The project "D-TECH-BASE - Development of a digital test field RoRo seaport Kiel with 2 test fields: 5G terminal communication and 5G traffic control" is funded by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
AGIOS
The "Automated Gate Information and Operation System" ensures smooth processes and language-barrier-free handling operations. Import and export drivers log in to the Dispatch Office and are registered in the system with interfaces to PASIS and YARD-IT. As soon as the goods have been prepared or an employee has logged in as ready for unloading, the driver receives a message from the system and is authorised to drive through the gate. On arrival, the licence plate number is scanned, compared with the existing registration and the gate opens automatically. This means that only vehicles that have a current reason for being on the site can enter the port security area. Terminal processes are optimised, more space is available at the terminal for loading and unloading ships and the Ostuferhafen is equipped for the further growth of ferry and cruise shipping companies - all made by PORT OF KIEL.
PASIS
PASIS, the "Paper Shed Information System", was developed - as the name suggests - for the paper terminal. It maps the entire terminal throughput on land: lorry management, warehouse stock, documentation of load securing, containers and rail loading, including aggregated statistics - and it is so successful that lorries, containers, general cargo and timber in the entire Ostuferhafen are now handled using it.
YARD-IT
The shipping company DFDS and the colleagues at PORT OF KIEL Stevedoring communicate online via Yard-IT: The foremen in RoRo handling communicate with the tugmaster drivers in real time using an electronic loading list for loading and unloading. Which units are to be unloaded and which are to be loaded? Each tugmaster pilot has a tablet on board for this purpose. It is also used to check and document whether all refrigerated trailers are displaying the correct temperature.
GPS Trailer Tracking
Only four hours to load and unload hundreds of vehicles and freight units on the ferry to Lithuania. Even we non-stevedore employees can imagine how nerve-wracking it can be to find the needle in the haystack - or rather: to find a specific trailer on 500,000 m² of Ostuferhafen premises that has been placed "somewhere" in a pretty herringbone pattern. That's why a new app is currently being tested, also PORT OF KIEL-made. The way it works is very simple and that's why it's so good: when checking trailers, all the licence plates of unaccompanied trailers are scanned with a mobile phone. The app recognises the location to an accuracy of 5 metres and sends it to YARD-IT. A map of the Ostuferhafen port can be called up in the tugmaster (see left), in which the locations (red) flash up - and the location of your own vehicle (green) at the same time. Feedback from the PORT OF KIEL Stevedoring colleagues: Thrilled.
CAPTN Kiel - Fjord 5G
Fjord 5G is a project of the CAPTN (Clean Autonomous Public Transport Network) initiative. Since 2018, this initiative (initially under the name "CAPTN Kiel") has united various transdisciplinary activities of CAPTN partners from society, business, science, politics and administration in one mission: the establishment of an integrated inner-city mobility chain of autonomous clean modes of transport on water and land with water-land interfaces for local public transport. The aim of the Fjord 5G project is to develop, test and demonstrate systems that use the 5G mobile communications standard to enable autonomous modes of transport on water and to network them with each other in the long term. The main topics are a 5G simulation in a virtual test field, 5G data management and a 5G control centre for monitoring autonomous manoeuvres. More about the project: here
